Name confusion

When AI cites a same-name company instead of you, and how to fix it.

If your company shares its name, or parts of it, with another business, AI answers may cite them in your prompts. The name-confusion check finds these cases automatically.

How detection works

SEOAI looks for cited domains whose name shares a word with your domain or one of your aliases, or is one typo away, and that appear in at least two answers. An AI judge then verifies each candidate: is this a different company with a similar name, or is it you?

The result appears as a card listing the same-name companies the AI cites in your topics, with their citation counts, sources, and the reason each was flagged.

Telling SEOAI who is who

Each flagged domain has two buttons:

  1. This is us: marks the domain as yours, so its citations count for you
  2. Not relevant: dismisses it, and it disappears from the list for good

Both save instantly and can be undone. The card also shows how much of the third-party citation share flows to wrong-entity domains, which quantifies the problem.

How to disambiguate

The card includes concrete recommendations: consistent naming across your site, clear about and imprint pages, structured data that ties your brand to its legal entity, and presence on the platforms the AI already trusts. The goal is to give the AI no room to guess.
