Competitors overview

How SEOAI discovers competitors and what the Competitors area shows.

You do not maintain a competitor list in SEOAI. Competitors are discovered automatically: every AI answer to your prompts is scanned for other brands and domains, and whoever shows up repeatedly becomes a tracked competitor with full history.

This has a pleasant side effect: the competitor set reflects reality as the AIs see it, not as your slide deck does. If an unexpected name keeps appearing next to yours, that is a competitor you should take seriously.

What the area shows

  1. Totals at the top: how many competitors appear, how often they were cited, and their average citation position
  2. Share of Voice: your slice of all appearances versus theirs, with trend
  3. Head-to-head: direct comparison against up to five chosen competitors
  4. The competitor by platform matrix: who wins where
  5. Top URLs by Share of Voice: the exact pages that get cited

Where the data comes from

Every execution stores citations and mentions with the brands behind them. Aggregated over your prompts, this produces competitor citations, positions and Share of Voice over time. More tracked prompts and longer histories make the picture sharper.

Acting on competitors

Finding a dominant competitor is the beginning, not the end. Take a prompt where they are cited and you are not to the citability audit, and you get the specific content reasons why their page wins.
