Answer drift

How much an AI answer changes between runs, and why it matters.

AI answers are not frozen. The same prompt can produce a different answer next week: sources rotate, new competitors appear, recommendations shift. Answer drift measures this movement.

For every prompt that has run before, SEOAI compares the current answer with the previous one and shows a similarity percentage on the execution result page, together with both answers side by side.

How to read drift

  1. High similarity means the AI consistently tells the same story about your market. Your position in that story is stable, for better or worse.
  2. Moderate similarity means individual pieces moved: a source swapped, a competitor gained or lost a sentence. Worth a look at what changed.
  3. Low similarity means the ground is shifting. Either the market is moving, or the platform changed how it answers. Check who is being cited now versus before.

Practical uses

  1. After you ship a fix, drift shows when the AI's answer actually starts to move in your favor
  2. Sudden drift on a stable prompt often signals a platform update or a new competitor in your niche
  3. Volatile prompts are poor anchors for reporting; prefer consistent ones for measuring progress
